48 Bolton Street, Bury is where you’ll find Orange Grove Kitchen - a fantastic café in Bury town centre. The owners, Julie Crossley and Paul Manfredi, were awarded the top food hygiene rating of 5 when they were inspected by Bury Council’s Environmental Health team in July 2024.

Julie and Paul decided to take plunge and open their own food business in early 2024, after working together in previous jobs. Julie has a strong background in catering and is experienced in running kitchens, while Paul is a seasoned business consultant. Both are keen to see their community thrive and their combined experience and commitment makes Orange Grove Kitchen a recipe for success!

The café has an inviting feel and serves a great menu, including freshly made breakfasts, hot and cold sandwiches and a delectable selection of cakes and sweet treats – all home-made by Julie. They also offer event catering, along with their eat-in and takeaway services.

Bury Council’s Business Compliance Support officer, Joe, contacted Julie and Paul shortly after Paul had been in touch with Environmental Health, to see if they could obtain guidance and support when getting the business up and running.

“Joe helped us to focus our minds on what we needed to do to make sure we were up to date with everything related to food hygiene. We wanted to make sure we were being thorough and following all the rules and Joe made sure we were on the right lines; he gave us all of the information we needed. We’ve now done our Level 2 Food Hygiene course and will soon be doing the food allergens course.

We put our heart and soul into this business each and every day so we were absolutely ecstatic when we got a food hygiene rating of 5!
